Running Shoes Can be Stylish

For the longest time, I didn’t have any interest in both sneakers and running shoes. My tune is starting to change on that stance. I still absolutely love my loafers, and that probably will never change, but I’ve recently started expanding my horizons.

For context, here’s a quick backstory. My wife and I planned a vacation with our kids, where lots and lots of walking is involved. Prior to the trip, I knew that there’s no way I could wear loafers walking around all day. I have flat feet that need support, so my current shoe lineup didn’t cut it. I needed to invest in a pair of running shoes, which I was dreading.

Most running shoes look pretty awful. But their purpose is for running, not for style. So it’s understandable. But that wasn’t good enough for me. I couldn’t stray far from my roots in knowing that I just can’t ignore the style. I needed form and function.

I spent a lot of time researching options for my feet, and just wasn’t happy with what I was seeing. I then started to dig into Nike’s collection of running shoes, and this opened up a whole new world for me.

There was hope! I ended up settling on Nike’s Free RN Flyknit. They seem to provide good comfort/support, and they look downright cool as hell.

While I’m still not a “wear sneakers everyday” kinda guy, it’s nice to know there are options for good looking shoes for the days that will be demanding to my feet. Running shoes aren’t always for runners, and some people have to be on their feet all day.

I’m coming around more and more to the style of sneakers. And it’s good to know there is hope out there in the style arena for running shoes.
