Happy 2016, readers! We hope that you made some good strides in your style last year, but as we’ve mentioned before, your personal style journey is always evolving and never ending. So with the new year in full swing, we think it’s nice to set style goals, similar to how people do their New Years resolutions.
Our style goals are going to be different than yours, but here are 3 goals to give you some ideas to get started. And don’t feel the need to stop at 3 if you’ve accomplished these things…
Get Rid of Old Clothes
by null
This is an easy one. You probably have plenty of clothes that you think you might wear someday. Inventory your clothes, and if there are items you haven’t worn in the last 6ish months (excluding formal wear), get rid of them. Don’t hold onto hope for unworn items, they’ll just take up unnecessary space. Clear them out to get a good look at your actual wardrobe. This also helps you see what gaps you might need to fill for future purchases.
Reorganize Your Closet
by null
To piggy back off getting rid of clothes, it’s a great exercise to organize your closet in a way that works for you. Maybe you want your sweaters in one place, button ups in another, or everything just arranged by color.

There is no wrong way to organize, so long as it works for your process and makes it easier for you to choose an outfit every day. My closet (pictured above) by colors, since that’s typically how I decide what to wear on any given day. So I can direct my attention to a specific color, and work from there.
This might take a little bit of thinking, but it’s well worth your time.
Try Something New
by null
This sounds easier than it is because it requires you to get out of your comfort zone. This is a good thing though, since it’s a way to keep progressing your style and wardrobe. So how do you know what new things to try?
There’s a few different ways to approach this. One could be just a new type of clothing that you don’t already have: a shawl cardigan (pictured), corduroys, or a different type of shoe, just to name a few examples.
Another approach could be color. Maybe most of your wardrobe is made of earth tones. If this is the case, try a different color (in a shirt or pants) that you haven’t tried before. Try going bold and make a statement through color. Or try a monotone color palette for an outfit.
Moving Forward

These are just 3 ideas to get you started on setting new style goals. We highly encourage you to create your own goals, and we can help as well. If you knock out these goals, don’t feel the need to stop at 3. The more goals you set for yourself, the more advanced your style and wardrobe get. Just make sure your goals are attainable.
